This is believed to one of Ralph Allen's shafts and was probably used for extracting the Bath Stone to the surface. It was recorded as infilled by Willies et al (2011) with brown silty clay and nineteenth and twentieth century debris.
The shaft is not shown on the 25 inch Ordnance Survey maps of 1873-1888 (South West England) or of 1892-1914.
The shaft is lost under a patio to the rear of 37 Westerleigh Gardens.
