Christmas Hole

Fairy Cave Quarry, Stoke St.Michael.

NGR:ST 6576 4764
WGS84:51.22692, -2.49173
Length:76 m
Depth:18 m
Altitude:183 m

A 13m shaft yielding a small passage which ended in a muddy choke close to Duck's Pot. Partway down the entrance shaft, a chamber could be entered from where a roomy but dangerously unstable passage could be a followed to a choke which lay directly below the original entrance to Balch Cave, of which it doubtless represented a northward continuation.

Alternate Names: Fairy Cave 7

Notes: Discovered by quarrying December 1961. Destroyed.
