This was an original shaft entrance to the Grey Gables underground quarry but is now a capped manhole. The access shaft was modified in 2006 to allow its use as a bat incubator routeway.
Alternate Names: Lawns Quarry, Grey Gables Mine
Notes: An underground and visual assessment in 2002/3 showed limited cover thickness, evidence of collapse beneath the Shaft Road, roof bed delamination and pervasive roof fractures.
