St Winifred's Quarry worked an extensive area on the surface and accessed approximately 0.4 hectares of underground workings by a single adit entrance. This entrance leads down a gentle slope into three shallow headings. There was a second entrance, which is located immediately northeast of the main entrance. However, this is blocked by a substantial stone wall. The underground quarry is gated and is on private land.
Alternate Names: St. Winifred's Mine
Notes: The underground quarry was worked in the 1920s and 1930s but closed before WW2, probably in 1938.
The grid reference of ST 769 626 was used as the quarry location on a planning application to the BANES Council for the Ralph Allen School Applied Learning Centre and an all-weather pitch.
