There was a small quarry close to where Shepherd's walk joins Southstoke Road. This was shown as No 4 on the map in the April 13th 1895 issue of "The Builder."
The site is now built on by the house and is probably a lost site. It is possible however, that an original quarry face provides the southern boundary of the garden of 19 Southstoke Road.
Alternative Names: Southstoke Lane Quarry 2
Notes: The quarry was probably worked at the end of the nineteenth, and into the early twentieth centuries. Willies et al (2011), suggest that there some limited underground quarrying occurred
Penn and Wyatt (1979) recored that a borehole drilled at Shepherds Walk in 1971, showed 11.4 m of limestone underlain by clay.
