Alternative Names: Westwood Quarry - Agaric Entrance
Notes: Notes: Notes: Godwin's was the first recorded underground quarry in Westwood. Stone extraction underground began in 1804 and the date is graffitied on a pillar not far inside the entrance. The entrance and workings were used after 1926 by the Agaric Mushroom Company and, in the Second World War as an emergency exit from the Royal Enfield shadow factory. It remains an emergency exit from the new Hanson Group quarry workings to the southwest.
