Notes: Victor Painter (1906-2000) in his Kingsdown Memories states that there was a grass field of almost an acre with many apple trees and a water well at the lower side Behind the Swan Inn. The water from the well was pumped up to a tank, in a corrugated tin hut at the front of the inn.
