A short but rather sporting rift containing two pitches of 8 m and 5 m, many excellent formations and a sizable (for Portland) rift chamber. The cave was extended by 35 m in June 2020 and then a further 60 m in July 2021. Persil Rift was then connected to the Grand Canyon in Ariel Cave in August 2021 providing an all weather entrance to Portland's longest cave and new through trips.
