"Slope Shaft" shown on 1901 and 1923 10,560 OS maps.
Labelled as Spring Quarry Slope Shaft B, Original Spring Quarry Shaft on plan of Spring Quarry (1942) in "Secret Underground Cities" by Nick McCamley (1998). The slope shaft was "securely blocked by a massive concrete plug" by March 1957 according to Nick McCamley in "Secret Cold War Nuclear Bunkers." Liz Price in "Bath Freestone Workings" (1984) suggests that an electricity sub station now stands on the site.
Alternative Names: Spring Quarry Slope Shaft 1
