This was probably the first major underground quarry at Box. Access to the workings was by two vertical shafts cut from the surface, begun before November 1828 by William Jones Brewer. Pictor & Sons acquired the quarrying rights in about 1850 who used it to access their underground workings, e.g. Tyning Quarry prior to a new roadway being made through to the Clift entrance.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: The name is less well known today as the quarry now forms part of the extensive Box Stone Mines/Quarries.
