Travellers Rest Quarry is the shaft visible in the field east of Guyers Lane. It is possible that this is the shaft sunk for the Travellers' Rest Quarry in circa 1810. It would have been the first quarry in Wiltshire to have a vertical winding shaft.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Prior to 1939, Travellers' Rest Quarry was only accessible by two vertical shafts. The Navy were responsible for blasting a new drift through from Pickwick Quarry for ammunition storage.
