This air shaft is today located within some modern farm buildings. It originally provided ventilation for the underground workings of Spindrift Quarry.
Alternative Names: Heglioland Shaft
Notes: The shaft and two others are shown on some old OS maps, including the 1:25000 (1937-61 series) as an 'Old Air Shaft' but are missing from most of the 6-inch and 25-inch large-scale OS maps of the nineteenth century. The shaft would have entered Spindrift Quarry, which was later connected to the Travellers Rest and Hartham Park Quarries
