Shown as "Trial Shaft" on 1 Wiltshire 25 inch OS maps (1892 - 1914). SLR Consulting Limited report that the shaft is indicated initially on the 1901 Edition of the Ordnance Survey as a Trial Shaft. However, on the 1921 Ordnance Survey map, the feature is shown as an Air Shaft. On the 1965 map, an area of "spoil" is indicated immediately south and adjacent to the shaft. SLR Consulting Limited (SLR) report that shallow underground workings are recorded extending for approximately 120 metres from the shaft in a north-easterly direction parallel to Park Lane.

Notes: In February 2014, SLR Consulting Limited (SLR) was commissioned by Redcliffe Homes Limited (Redcliffe) to prepare a Mining Risk Assessment for the Site as part of a proposed residential development at the Site.
