This ventilation shaft is shown as an "Air Shaft" on large scale OS maps. The shaft is approximately 60 metres west of the entrance and served as the outlet for the small underground oil-fired boiler.

Notes: The air shaft is close to houses on Elms Cross Drive, immediately above the main quarry entrance. Following the discovery of the cannabis farm in Bethel Quarry in 2018, the police locked this air shaft and no access is possible. Please do not disturb the residents by trying to enter the underground quarry.
