The location is approximate as unfortunately, Barn Quarry is not a widely used name and historical evidence is limited. It is probable that like many of the quarries around Box Hill, which were once individually named it was later merged into the generic Box Quarry name. This quarry was mentioned by Price (1984) when she wrote "Others (smaller quarries) include Barn Quarry on Box Hill" exist.
Alternative Names: Barton's Piece?
Notes: Tucker references one inscription in the Lower Hill Series of Box Quarry that reads "G Smith killed [in] Barn quarry July 20th 1896"
In 1907, The auctioneers Tilley & Parry held a sale of Horses etc. at Barn Piece, Quarry Hill, Box. It is possible that the barn may have been to house quarry work horses
