Stout Slocker is a typical example of the Oakhill swallets and comprises two steep rifts leading to a rather immature network of small passages. It lies in the grounds of Pondsmead House which once had extensive gardens with artificial grottos and lakes fed by spring water. These were constructed in about 1760 and once provided a water supply to the now sadly defunct Oakhill Brewery. Water no longer sinks in the slocker but the stream was spore-tested to Ashwick Grove Higher Rising by MKHP in 1966 (6 hours). WCC dug into Stout Slocker in 1957 and it was later pushed by both CSS and MEG.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Currently (Aug 2023) no access
Hydrographic Resurgences: Ashwick Grove Higher Rising (MKHP 1966 - 6 hours)
