A narrow sink located in the left bank of Springfield Brook and dug briefly by SVCC in 1966. In drought conditions it can take all the dry weather flow but normally the stream sinks into a culvert further downstream and passes along a narrow channel beneath Springfield Cottages before reappearing on the opposite side of Fosse Lane. It sinks permanently in Springfield Two.
