A large entrance with a rock pillar on one side opens into a 6m wide chamber. On the right hand side of the chamber at the back is a short section of passage ending in a collapse. The rock is greensand with flint bands. There are shot holes in the walls suggesting the site is artificial and probably mined for the flint. The cave is on farmland and there is no official access although a public footpath is in the next field about 100 metres away.
Alternative Names: Snowdon Cave 1, Snowdon Main Cave
Notes: Legend has it that a tunnel leads from here to the village of Wadeford about a mile away. There is absolutely no evidence for this and it is geologically unlikely as well.
