Both West and East Ridge Quarries were taken over in 1915 from the Bath Stone Company by the Ministry of Munitions. Ridge Quary was used as an TNT and cordite store in WW1 and with a similar use for munitions in WW2. The land and quarry were re-purchased by the Neston Estate in 1975. There were originally two slope shafts and a lift shaft but Slope Shaft 1 and the Lift Shaft are now blocked after MOD surface buildings were demolished and bulldozed into them.

Alternative Names: Ridge Mine, Western Monks Park Quarry, The Ridge, Old (West) Ridge, New (East) Ridge

Notes: Gated = no access (March 2010)
