Fairy Cave Quarry, Stoke St.Michael.
|NGR:||ST 6554 4757|
Hillwithy Cave represents a downstream continuation of Withyhill Cave. A roomy entrance passage degenerates into a squalid tube, from where an arduous series of ducks and chambers leads to the West Sump of Hillier's Cave. This difficult connection (only passable in exceptionally dry weather), is frequently blocked with quarry derived sludge.
Alternate Names: Fairy Cave 17, Mucking Fuddy Cave
Notes: Discovered by quarrying, April 1972, most southerly section within quarry boundary destroyed. Later linked with up-stream Hillier's Cave (qv).
Hydrographic Resurgences: St. Dunstan's Well West
