A cave with a long history. Catcott records the descent of Capt. Sturmey in 1669 and Capt. Collins in 1682. Rev. Thomas Newman fatally slipped and fell down the main shaft in 1775. An entrance shaft 6m deep leads to the Main Chamber via Approach Passage. A 23m pitch descends to the bottom of the Main Chamber where there is a pool of water that fluctuates up to 20m with the rainfall. The Main Chamber is 50m high. It has been investigated by miners searching for lead several times but although galena is found there it is not present in commercial quantities.
