Mendip Cave Registry

Welcome to the Mendip Cave Registry Database of
Sites of Spelæological Interest

This online version of the MCRA registry database contains over 3,000 entries for sites across Mendip and the surrounding areas, including details such as length, depth, hydrology and alternate names, plus archive photos and survey references.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
The existence of a site description in this database does NOT imply or grant any right of access, nor even guarantee the existence of that site. Information contained in this database may be erroneous or out of date. You can help us to improve the data by submitting your corrections using the feedback links provided on this website.

In general no access information is given. For official details of up to date access arrangements to a large number of the caves covered by this database you should consult the Access Guide available on the Council of Southern Caving Clubs website. In other cases it may be necessary to seek access permission from the owner of the land on which a site resides. Many sites may be gated, locked or otherwise inaccessible.

NO RESPONSIBILITY will be taken by the MCRA for any damages resulting in any manner, directly or indirectly, from the data held on this site, or from errors or omissions in that data, or from misuse of such data.

BATS:
In Britain all bat species and their roosts are legally protected. If a significant bat population is observed in a cave the Somerset Bat Group would like to be informed, especially if any of the bats are ringed.
